The Medical Equipment Planner is responsible for the management of the medical equipment planning functions during all phases of a hospital construction design projects, including medical equipment planning, cost estimating, budget management, medical equipment procurement, with an intense focus on clinical outcomes.
The Medical Equipment Planner is expected to lead the project, be accurate and timely in the preparation of detailed drawings, and effectively communicate with all stakeholders. The Planner shall demonstrate a passion for client satisfaction and comprehensive knowledge of healthcare technology. The Medical Equipment Planner is expected to have extensive communications with Owners, Architects, Contractors, Engineers, Vendors, and Clinicians.
Job Duties
Coordinates efforts and communications between internal contacts including project coordinators, procurement staff and end users.
Facilitates meetings with medical personnel to establish appropriate selection and placement of medical equipment and to validate equipment requirements.
Leads the clinical teams through the selection of medical equipment and related systems.
Assists in developing and managing medical equipment budgets for construction projects.
Works with the clinical engineering team to conduct a Technology Assessment of existing equipment to determine what -could be kept in service and what should be replaced during the construction project.
Develops an Equipment plan for each project including a detailed listing of required equipment, distinguishing between new and existing equipment.
Coordinates necessary schematic design specifications between the vendors and the design and engineering teams.
Maintains an Equipment Planning database and resource library.
Assists the Sourcing team with the RFP and bidding process for required medical equipment.
Assists in managing contracts and purchase orders with Equipment vendors.
Monitors equipment vendor lead times and critical path with regard to the project plan.
Works with supply chain logistics and project manager to coordinate deliveries and inbound product storage and tracking.
Conducts job-site reviews of the medical equipment pre-installation requirements.
Coordinates vendor meetings with the design team as needed.
Remains knowledgeable and current in market conditions and healthcare trends affecting procurement within Geisinger, including product availability, pricing, and federal and state laws, regulations, and programs which impact costs, payment and
procurement (prospective payment, DRGs, etc.).
Ensures Geisinger is taking advantage of the most efficient and effective equipment available.
