Leads purchasing and sourcing strategies across business units.
Provides leadership to cross-functional teams to resolve complex business issues. May manage regional purchasing teams.
Defines project scopes, mitigates, risk, and identifies savings opportunities across business units. May also support procurement as it relates to new product development.
Implements policies and metrics to ensure the best combination of cost, quality and delivery.
Manages sourcing and purchasing strategies aimed at reducing cost, minimizing risk, and optimizing business processes.
Determines and helps businesses manage demand and supplier capacity.
Manages regional, commodity, and/or new product purchasing teams.
Promotes alignment of purchasing strategy with business unit and supply chain goals.
Identifies, plans, and implements continuous improvement opportunities within the supply chain.
Builds strong relationships with key suppliers.
Validates sourcing and contract activities of sourcing teams.
Fosters communication among key purchasing stakeholders across business units and functions.
Drives total cost reductions across the entire supply chain.
Establishes purchasing target process and oversees teams’ delivery against those targets.
Identifies opportunities and leads continuous improvement activities within key processes.
Leads, manages and coaches teams; provides active feedback and delivers recommendations for training and development opportunities among staff members.
Category Strategy Development - Establishes category strategy using Total Value Performance approach to define the Supply Base and Technology Strategy to meet all current and future Cummins' needs; manages risk and inclusion of diverse suppliers.
Cost Management - Establishes and controls product and service costs using functional tools to deliver and track product and services at competitive prices ensures competitiveness of Cummins products in our markets while preserving desired margins.
Develop Systems and Processes - Applies systems and processes to improve and complete work; works to eliminate system and process inefficiencies and roadblocks; demonstrates use of structured work documentation such as communication channels, work steps, procedures, checklists, or flow charts.
Diversity Procurement - Evaluates, develops, establishes and integrates global diversity requirements and compliance; creates an inclusive environment that fosters the need for diverse suppliers to ensure a global sustainable and inclusive supply base to meet Cummins and customer's requirements.
Intellectual Property Management - Assures protection of Cummins Intellectual Property within the supply base and partners with suppliers to optimize the use of their intellectual property for Cummins future competitive advantage by engaging the legal function; assures appropriate separation of Cummins' inventors from Supplier Intellectual Property to avoid Intellectual Property poisoning that could inhibit Cummins' ability to freely invent.
Negotiations Excellence - Utilizes tools and methods in negotiations to achieve Cummins stakeholder objectives and achieve a mutually agreed upon all contract terms between all parties.
Purchasing Ethics - Avoids supplier engagement that may compromise supplier sourcing, selection, and management processes and seeks counsel to ensure compliance.
Supplier Management - Leverages Cummins marketing forecast processes and data required from suppliers for capacity planning; negotiates capacity requirements in supplier contracts to deliver the lowest Total Cost of Ownership; links interrelationship between capacity management and product quality; assesses suppliers to ensure that they are capable of meeting Cummins total demand for both production and aftermarket.
