Job Summary: Under the general supervision of the Campus Stores Manager, this position is responsible for the daily stores operations, including but not limited to purchasing, reorder, inventory control, merchandising, and customer service within a university retail environment. Manage multiple campus storerooms and related inventories. Responsible for training, supervision of store personnel and providing high levels of goods and services to the research community.
Supply Chain Management: Distribution & Logistics Services is a multifaceted organization with seven separate locations that provide services to the Davis campus and Sacramento medical-center community. It is comprised of Aggie Surplus, Bulk Mail Services, Mail Services, Repro Graphics, Central Receiving, Central Storehouse, Scientific Storeroom, MRO Storeroom, Furniture Program, Microscope Services and various other programs. The position is delegated as department head that establishes and adheres to policy for personnel and general administrative functions. Establishes the vision, mission, goals, objectives, and develops and implements business plans.
Physical Demands: Ability to stoop, reach, and bend and utilize pallet jacks and/or hand trucks to move, lift and maneuver boxes of materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to stand, and/or remain sedentary for extended periods.
Work Environment: Fast-paced, high traffic, shared work area with constant interruptions, noise, and dust.
Position may require employee to work with and/or be in areas where hazardous materials are present.
Position may require the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment.

Minimum Qualifications: Supervisory and leadership experience to recruit, train, delegate, motivate, evaluate, resolve problems, manage conflicts and administer corrective action.
Experience managing inventory restocking levels, and reconciling inventory discrepancies.
Experience using an automated inventory management system and other various computer hardware/software packages to facilitate administrative, and sales duties comprised of databases, word-processing, spreadsheets, Email, web-based, and scheduling software.
Knowledge of bar-coding systems.
Knowledge of Safety procedures, standards and regulations, and appropriate handling of chemicals.
Experience with fiscal inventory, principles and practices.
Knowledge of retail sales, terminology, cost, margins, mark-up/mark-downs, payment and freight terms.
Experience in warehouse receiving and operations, including safety standards and practices.
Knowledge base and familiarity with scientific, molecular and office products.
Preferred Qualifications: Ability to interpret contracts, guidelines and UC policies and procedures pertaining to shipping and receiving, and other warehousing related activities.
Skills to operate warehouse equipment, i.e., pallet jacks, hand trucks, etc.
Skills using various computer programs (e.g., inventory control, point of sale), and office equipment including familiarity with PC and Mac computers.
Skills to utilize unique store software (POSIM) to determine final costs.
Familiarity with vendor websites to maneuver, interpret, and place product orders.
Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate and interact with a diverse community.
Analytical skills to identify problems, interpret data, and recommend resolution and/or implementation.
Experience writing, proofreading and editing to produce evaluations, correspondence, reports, Email, etc.
Knowledge of Life Science products and enzymes.
Demonstrated experience managing in a retail environment.
Skills to make informed independent judgments on a wide variety of shipping and receiving related activities.
Knowledge of and commitment to UC Safety standards and regulations.
Knowledge of and adherence to UC Staff Policy and Procedure.
