The Director, Channel Operations and Distribution is responsible for and leads all operational activities including delivery, planning, expediting, storage, control, distribution, and shipment of materials and products to meet operational objectives and customer requirements within the Channel business for the Americas. He/She will be the sole leader of Channel Operations that will direct a group consisting of planners, buyers, master schedulers, and data analytics personnel in support of Channel Business objectives.
The Director of Channel Operations will set aggressive improvement goals around service levels, delivery performance, inventory turns and warehouse efficiency and report results on a regular basis to his/her staff and the senior leadership team. This position will be the key point of contact for Channel Sales Operations in ensuring customer satisfaction with the goal of on time delivery in this fast moving “same-day” environment.
Key and critical to this role will be the ability to build, grow and improve the Channel operations team, processes, and metrics within the Channel business. This leader will advise and recommend both changes to existing procedures, policies, processes and recommend new ones to continuously strive towards world class operational performance. Partnering with the Global Business Unit (GBU) and sales leaders will be essential. He/she will provide support and leadership for the implementation of supplier development programs and Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) systems. Other responsibilities may include:
Manage the planning and flow of materials and FGs to maximize delivery performance while optimizing inventory performance
Manage a team of supervisor including those overseeing buyers, planners, inventory control, scheduling and shipping resources including Fed 3PL.
Lead, mentor and develop staff
Measure and manage the performance of materials indirect and direct support teams.
Lead the SIOP process from the operations side of the Channel business working together with sales operations and step in to lead as required
Identify, share and implement best in class supply chain practices
Lead the development standard work, policies and procedures in collaboration with other facilities and professional supply chain resources
Suggest and lead continuous improvement for your department and others
Manage Supplier held inventory programs to improve delivery, reduce lead-times and avoid E&O risk to Vertiv
Collaborate with other departments to drive continuous improvement for Vertiv
Collaborate with other facilities and regions of the world to optimize inventory globally
Monitor capacities and product line delivery performance and daily throughput
Work with manufacturing operation to improve material flow through the plant and increase productivity
BS is business administration, or related discipline.
10 years of experience in a distribution/fulfillment environment, materials management, forecasting planning or other similar logistics function.
Complex transformational leadership experience; standing-up a distribution/fulfillment center on its own; standing-up new locations, etc.
SIOP expertise is a must; diving into sales forecasts to ensure proper inventory and fulfillment.
Experience with ERP/MRP and critical supply chain inputs such as service levels, lead times, safety stock, reorder points, etc.
Experience in a fast- paced distribution center environment.
Very proficient in spreadsheets, MS Office with the ability to dive deep into data to problem solve when issues arise
An excellent understanding manufacturing operations and supply chain management
Outstanding communication skills and ability to work at different levels and multiple departments within the organization including outside customers as required
Experience leading cross-functional teams is required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
