To plan, organize and direct the material resource and equipment room operation throughout the Christiana Care Health System. Specifically to oversee the entire Logistics Center operation to include inventory management, transportation and efficient business processes for inbound/outbound deliveries. Oversee the hospital and off-site PAR supply rooms with optimal stocking levels to ensure a continuity of supply for the clinical treatment of our patients. Oversee the cleaning and restocking of the equipment in the supply room to contribute positively to the safety and quality we deliver to our patients.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Manages and directly supervises the activities Logistics Center, Hospital Materials Management and the Equipment Room.
Designs implements and administers materials strategic plan as approved by the Vice President of Supply Chain.
Plans and implements an effective replenishment program, obtaining the best value, in coordination with the Vice President of Supply Chain.
Plans and implements an effective inventory program and logistics process.
Plans and coordinates with the Infection Prevention and Nursing departments the logistics of equipment.
Supports the value analysis program.
Creates an effective working relationship between purchasing, logistics, nursing, infection control, and vendors that supports the process of quality patient care.
Develops, implements and administers an effective operational budget.
Ensures a safe working environment.
Practices service excellence and supports the mission and values of Christiana Care.
Manages operations of a warehouse management computer system.
Develops and administers policies and procedures relative to the material computer system.
Performs assigned work safely, establishing departmental safety rules and practices.
Develops KPI's to ensure the processes developed are being maintained to provide the most efficient metrics while ensuring there is no disruption to supply.
Implements a LEAN operating system.
Promotes a culture of continuous improvement with Warehousing and Materials Management by retaining and developing world-class diverse talent.
Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients, and visitors.
Performs other related duties as required.
SCOPE PURPOSE, AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS :
Frequent contact throughout the system with all levels of employees. Direct contact with the Director of Purchasing, Manager of Surgical Supplies, Value Analysis Clinical lead. Daily contact with physicians and other clinicians.
DIRECTION/SUPERVISION OF OTHERS :
Provides supervision to staff in the Logistics Center, Materials Management and the Equipment Room.
Receives direct supervision from Vice President, Supply Chain
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
Bachelor degree in Business or Supply Chain Management required with a master degree preferred.
Proven experience with resource talent assessment and development.
Five to Seven years' experience in warehouse management, logistics, and inventory management.
Experience in the effective relationship of all system employees.
Lean/6 sigma experience and/or certifications.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS :
Knowledge of the function and skills throughout the field of material management. Knowledge of material computer system. Ability to practice effective working relationships.
