We are seeking a professional like you to be responsible for our Customs & Foreign Trade Operations. Manage the AES export declarations to ensure compliance for all export shipments. Help reduce costs, look for continuous improvement ideas to increase the duty avoidance figures for BASF globally. Maximize FTA opportunities within the current FTA framework while also proactively managing the new FTA's that are introduced by the US Government. Also, maintain knowledge and awareness of the associated regulations; as well as work closely with BASF Corp. to ensure the continued success of the program. Import Broker Management is also key to the flow of business. Oversight of brokers and monitoring of import activity and changing regulations is essential to the role. Additionally, integration of new businesses to our import process is required as necessary.
Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Formula for Success
Complete AES Export Declarations and submit mandatory information to U.S. Customs, U.S. Census Bureau, DEA, or any other PGA agency as required
Review Export Declarations daily to ensure data sent to government agencies is accurate
Communication and solicitation of data from Export Managers and BASF Service Providers
Responding to CBP and U.S. Census Bureau requests
Responsible for updating and the maintenance of data in SAP
Release Trade Control Blocks for Export Orders
Conduct analysis of all products subject to the Free Trade Agreements (FTA) to which the U.S. and Canada are parties and prepare and maintain data and documentation required by these FTAs
Solicitation of data and documentation, such as FTA certificates and long-term supplier agreements, from BASF suppliers
Assist with additional duty management opportunities for the Customs and Foreign Trade Operations organization
Communicate with service providers, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)/Treasury, and internal business partners to ensure timely and complete reconciliations
Serve as Proof of Service Provider of invoices for Customs & Foreign Trade activities to verify relevance of activities billed
Communicate with businesses to drive forward the duty drawback program to maximize BASF eligible benefits
Engage with duty drawback consultant and participate in meetings as needed
Record Retention activities / coordination of the relevant processes
