The Sourcing Commodity Team Manager will be a member of the Sourcing organization, reporting to the Head of Professional Services Sourcing. The successful candidate will demonstrate proven results executing category management within a VMS managed SOW program for a professional services category. He/she will take a lead role in establishing best practices for engagement and management of Consulting and Contingent Workforce category. This person will work with a cross functional team on the roll- out of a new enterprise wide SOW program. The successful candidate will partner with business lines to identify mid to long term mutual partnership benefits and execute against them to continually improve the value derived from third party relationships while managing complex relationships.
The Sourcing Commodity Team Manager will exhibit strong business acumen with a proven track record for success within transformational sourcing environments. The Sourcing Commodity Team Manager will direct and develop a small team. He/she will build strong relationships with peers while building their own knowledge of bank policies, risk related requirements, and ensuring that sourcing projects meet the minimum requirements of our standard processes.
Leading SOW program roll out from a Sourcing perspective working with cross functional team to implement new VMS system and operationalize process and administration
Establishing best practice framework around engaging professional services suppliers and educating stakeholders
Utilizing analytical thinking and tools to identify new benefits generation and/or report outcomes
Forming and maintaining strategic partnerships with the leadership and key members of the business line(s) being supported through regular planned interactions
Managing and developing small team of direct reports
Continuously developing and disseminating subject matter expertise of trends and best practices within the marketplace. Maintaining close relations with the industry supply base and industry experts with the objective to develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
Advancing compliance with contingent worker program using VMS
Developing supplier capabilities matrix and incorporating into supplier rationalization efforts
Working with the business line, developing strategy plans that optimize the value derived from third party engagements and mitigates associated risks. Strategy execution and continuous improvement idea generation is a priority
Building support and partnership with enabler stakeholder groups using strong influencing skills that promote acceptance of new points of view
Leading high value, strategic supplier selection RFx events using best practice methodology
Leading high value, strategic supplier contract negotiations using techniques that create a win-win outcome
Maintaining a positive outlook and attitude acting as a role model for the rest of the team
Our expectation is that this manager will have the ability to work the majority of their time onsite on our Johnston, RI campus, yet will have flexibility for work from home as needed.
7 or more years of Professional Services sourcing experience and expertise required (Consulting Services category expertise is preferred)
SOW program experience using VMS is preferred
Proven experience leading complex sourcing engagements using best practice 7-step sourcing process (or equivalent)
Proven success with progressing stakeholder relationships at senior levels of the organization
Proven success using root cause analysis, reframe and brainstorming techniques to get to high value ideas
Deep understanding of contracting in highly regulated industry (banking experience preferred)
Experience with vendor management and understanding of risk related best practice
Strong consulting, project management and analytics skills
Proficient in client management, influencing and change management
Advanced in negotiation strategy, persuasion and influence techniques
Technical aptitude - Knowledge of Ariba, Oracle, and advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint
