Waters Corporation is currently seeking a Compliance Specialist to join our Trade and Product Stewardship organization. In this exciting role, you will be joining a team responsible for establishing policy and coordinating Waters’ global import/export, trade compliance, and product stewardship activities. The team ensures adherence to global market access requirements and is instrumental in facilitating trade. In this role you will help increase the speed of Waters’ supply chain while mitigating risk and meeting the needs of our growing global customer base.
This position will be highly integrated with new product development and introduction processes.
Primary responsibility will be to implement Waters’ trade and stewardship strategy to ensure adherence to current and changing product stewardship and trade requirements for all raw materials, products in development, and finished goods in all applicable market countries and countries of manufacture.
Assist in the development, implementation, and documentation of global process controls, regulatory compliance procedures, and risk evaluation and mitigation for Waters’ products. Support continuous improvement efforts relating to the above.
Support global regulatory surveillance to anticipate regulatory requirements that could affect the distribution and sale of Waters’ products.
Assist with responses to inquiries from internal and external customers, foreign subsidiaries, distributors, vendors, brokers, and carriers to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
Assist with periodic self-assessments, internal and external compliance audits, document/implement any necessary corrective actions.
Collaborate and develop partnerships with other organizations within Waters, such as Global Planning, Procurement, Marketing, Distribution, Manufacturing, Order Entry, and Engineering as required.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (chemical, electrical, mechanical), or equivalent experience
Strong project management skills
Experience in component engineering is a plus
Experience with logistics or supply chain, trade compliance, customs, or product stewardship a plus
Specific experience with supply chain regulations is not mandatory, although familiarity is a plus. Training in these areas will be offered. Supply chain regulations examples, but not limited to, RoHS, REACH, Conflict Minerals, chemical registrations, Country of Origin, Harmonized Tariff Schedule Codes, ECCN, import/export requirements
Experience in life science industries, such as analytical instruments, medical devices, biotechnology, or pharmaceuticals is a plus
Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably SAP, desired
Must be able to manage multiple tasks
Possess excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Effective oral and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to solve problems in a dynamic environment
Must be a team player and self starter; high bias toward action
