Evaluates, sources, establishes and maintains a supplier base to assure lead time, pricing, quality and on-time complete delivery of materials to meet American Seating’s production requirements.
Leads VA/VE & cost savings initiatives to improve competitiveness of category spend to meet or exceed budget and business plan targets.
Negotiate contracts with suppliers to deliver the highest value materials that meet cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
Devises commodity strategies to leverage purchase of direct material.
Audits current contract prices for competitiveness of material and services.
Tracks and reports on status of sourcing initiatives: cost reductions, lean initiatives, process improvements, and other defined goals for assigned commodities.
Coordinates engineering releases on new products and engineering changes on purchased materials with supplies.
Maintains the supply data base on quotes, standard costs, and lead times enabling material control to effectively perform their job.
Coordinates major procurement programs as directed.
Monitors supplier performance and responsiveness for cost, quality and delivery.
Manages supplier relationships.
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or Logistics
Experience with MRP/ERP systems required.
Ability to travel to major supply partners.
Knowledge of BPICS manufacturing system.·
Solid organizational and project management skills.
Working knowledge of Sourcing law and contracts.
Working knowledge in blueprint reading, PPAP documentation, product costing and specifications.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, etc.)
C.P.M. or C.P.S.M certification is preferred.
Candidate should have strong plastics background with molding and forming experience.
Strong plastics supplier relationships preferred.
