California State University Maritime Academy (Cal Maritime) invites applications for a tenure-track position in Logistics/Supply Chain Management. The successful candidate will join the Department of International Business & Logistics, a rapidly growing department, with program emphases on logistics, supply chain, and maritime-related issues. Faculty at Cal Maritime have opportunities to teach with small class sizes, develop new classes and lead students on summer international experience trips.
We seek applicants with expertise in logistics and supply chain management who demonstrate the potential to pursue a balance commitment to teaching excellence, scholary and creative research, and active search. Particularly desirable are candidate with extensive industry experience, a record of excellence in undergraduate teaching and a doctoral degree in a relevant field. Candidate who have extensive supply chain related professional experience and possess a master's degree in a business-related field are also strongly encouraged to apply.
ABOUT CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY MARITIME ACADEMY (Cal Maritime): Located on a scenic waterfront campus in Vallejo, California (30 miles northeast of San Francisco), Cal Maritime is a unique and specialized campus of the 23-campus California State University (CSU) system. Serving a population of approximately 1100 undergraduate and 50 graduate students, we are one of only seven degree-granting maritime academies in the United States and the only one on the West Coast. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach existing courses in support of the baccalaureate program as needed
Develop, teach, and assess new undergraduate courses such as (but not limited to): Freight Transportation, Warehousing, Procurement, Logistics Information Systems, Data Analytics, Import/Export, and/or Port & Terminal Operations.
Candidates should also have the ability to teach and assess courses in one or more business-related functions relating to the departments core business courses such as( but not limited to): Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, or International Business.
Engage in research and scholarship on issues relevant to the supply chair and logistics domain.
Share in the duties of academic advising
Participate, as appropriate, in the planning and implementation of additional undergraduate and/or graduate programs in Maritime Management
Actively engage in maintain the business program's accreditation status with IACBE
Teach courses as appropriate, for the Master's degree in Transportation and Engineering Management
Fulfill institutional responsibilities associated with the major including (but not limited to): program and course assessment, grants, campus and CSU committee service, and developing and defining internship opportunities for students
Master's degree from an accredited institution in a business-related field
Candidates with a master's degree must commit to completing a doctorate degree in an appropriate discipline prior to earning tenure
Strong collaboration and exceptional communication (oral, written, and virtual) skills
High degree of professionalism
Five or more years of industry experience in any one or combination of following areas: logistics operations, fleet/freight transportation management, inventory management, production/operations management, procurement/sourcing, materials handling, project management, international business operations or port operations.
Doctoral degree in an appropriate field
Teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level
Pedagogical versatility with demonstrated ability in the use of teaching techniques that ensure student engagement
Experience in distance education
SALARY COMPENSATION: Salary is commensurate with the education, qualifications and experience of the individual.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Typical classroom and office environment are in a two-story building with elevator access.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment
