Reporting to the Director of Procurement, this is a newly created position. It is a unique opportunity to capitalize on business growth and lead the establishment of the sourcing team.
Success will require implementing new processes and policies and leading a team of buyer/planners responsible for all project sites from quoting to delivery. Core competencies needed include establish/managing vendor relationships, negotiating pricing and contracts, mentoring and ensuring supply, while maintaining the highest ethical standards. It is critical to collaborate and challenge internal teams to drive change and best practices.
The ideal candidate is a hybrid of strategist, negotiator, change agent and problem solver.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage and mentor a procurement team of Project Sourcing Specialists and Buyer/Planners
Develop Sourcing team metrics and targets, and ensure they are maintained, and achieved
Conducts and reports monthly on budget vs actual for each active project
Manage purchasing department budget for team expenses
Develop and manage strategic vendor relationships to provide the optimum combination of cost, quality, features, lead time, delivery, and benefits
Drive supplier business reviews focused on strengthening long term strategic relationships.
Supplier Performance Management through detailed scorecards measuring on time delivery, quality and cost savings
Resolve vendor issues (delivery, pricing, etc.) when elevated by your team
Ensure staff maintains on-time processing of orders to support project time lines
Identify opportunities and assist negotiating strategic supplier contracts with the Commodity Managers
Create “should cost” models to drive negotiations
Work cross functionally with manufacturing, engineering and quality to identify and implement continuous improvement projects including alternate sources, alternate materials and supplier and material consolidation that takes advantage of economies of scale to maximize savings
Analyzes functional activities/processes and recommends actions to improve work efficiencies
Define priorities to sources of supply whenever material/parts are constrained or on allocation
Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Evaluate supply chain abilities to support ad-hoc or un-forecasted demand changes
Interface with all levels of management, both internally and externally, to resolve related sourcing issues
Ensure and promote compliance to Company and Procurement policies and procedures
Perform other Purchasing tasks as required
Travel: Up to 20% travel is possible to various job sites. Travel may be outside of the local area and overnight. All travel will be domestic.
4 - 5+ years of sourcing experience
1+ year of supervisory experience
Experience managing a 4 - 6-person team of varied experience levels
Ability to generate measurable cost savings on a continuous basis and to conduct ad-hoc analysis requests
Knowledge and experience in managing the RFX process
Create RFIs, RFQs; analyzing quotes; identifying cost drivers, etc.
Demonstrated negotiating experience: piece price, terms, and delivery with external vendors
Experience in contract execution and management
Experience tracking and analyzing project costs to maintain or improve budgets
Experience with cost modeling/cost drivers/cost structures
Able to analyze data, extrapolate insights and communicate findings clearly and concisely to management
Excellent problem-solving skills and judgment to drive issue resolution in a timely manner; develops alternative solutions
Ability to communicate effectively (written, oral and interpersonal) with all levels of management, co-workers and vendors
Perceptive and can influence others to obtain support
Experience reading engineering drawings, specifications and bills of material
Ability to self-manage in a dynamic environment with minimal oversight
Excellent organization and follow-up skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate efficiently despite frequent interruptions
Experience with managing parts delivery to meet deadlines
Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of MRP and MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college
Follow applicable laws and regulations.
Experience sourcing components and finished goods for the Intralogistics Industry
Experience interviewing and hiring sourcing staff
Experiencing managing long lead time assemblies with demand by project time lines
Experience working with project site managers to ensure deliveries and vendor invoicing
Experience with MRP system, CMiC
Institute for Supply Management (ISM) C.P.M., CPSM® or CPSM® or The Association for Operations Management (APICS) CPIM, CSCP or CFPIM professional certifications
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, engineering, etc.
