SUMMARY We are currently working with a highly technical, global manufacturer to identify a Commodity Manager. This manufacturer has an extremely successful, long term track record of continued growth and expansion, is very financially sound, and offers an above average benefits package, to also include a bonus incentive and profit sharing programs.
In summary the Commodity Manager will establish and execute strategies related to Capital Equipment and Facility Infrastructures with the purpose of rationalizing costs and obtaining maximum value for the company globally.
This is a newly created position due to growth on a global basis. The Commodity Manager will work with the corporate group and be the centralized person to perform commodity management on a global basis. The Commodity Manager will report into the Sr. Manager of Strategic Procurement, and in addition to working closely with that person, they will also frequently interact with other divisions and groups on a global basis, as well as external customers and vendors to coordinate and negotiate.
POSITION Job Competencies: • Ability to maintain current market information for commodities of responsibility to ensure that the company’s prices remain competitive within the confines of existing and new contracts. • Experience in developing, writing and publishing bids (RFI, RFP, RFQ) in addition to running bid evaluation meetings supported by division stakeholders. • Analyze spend portfolio and determine overall procurement approach for assigned areas based on magnitude of dollars, strategic importance and opportunity for value delivery. • Experienced in Supplier Development, Supplier Relationship Management, Supplier Negotiations, and contract writing. • Demonstrated ability to promote communication across the company to identify and drive toward standardization of common policies and best practices to achieve efficiencies and cost reduction. • Develop, monitor, and report performance metrics to key stakeholders. • Interact with project/stakeholders on a multi-location/division basis to ensure needs and supply strategies are being executed as desired. Willingness to travel and join international conference calls potentially at night to accommodate international divisions and suppliers.
REQUIREMENTS • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree, in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Operations Management. • Minimum 10 years of Commodity Management - Capital spend in global industrial companies, experience at facility infrastructure/build will be a plus. • Special Skills: International business experience, excellent negotiating and Contract Management skills. • Certifications highly preferred: CPM or CPSM through ISM. • Thorough understanding of Incoterms (International Commercial Terms). • Strong data analysis skills. • Advanced skills in MS Office Suite and experience working in an ERP environment (SAP preferred). • Ability to travel up to 30% (to include domestic and international travel). • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen.
