Successful MBA intern candidates will be placed into key functions across the business dependent on a combination of interest, skills and experience, and growth potential. This internship will provide the opportunity to spend 10 weeks in Wayfair’s Boston Back Bay Headquarters, and allow you to dig deep on a project while learning about many exciting initiatives across the business. Teams hiring summer interns include the following:
Business Intelligence at Wayfair is the engine that powers a company obsessed with data. BI Senior Managers move fast, iterate quickly on big business problems, work smart, apply technology to accelerate unlocking insights and provide outsized value to our customers. The team treats data as a resource; making information globally accessible and eliminating silos. The Business Intelligence Senior Manager will lead a team, providing critical data to our internal business partners to drive strategic and tactical decisions. In addition, the Business Intelligence will play a role in architecting both Wayfair’s current and next generations of our first class self-service BI platform.
Category Management is composed of Wayfair’s lead merchandising teams focused on generating high revenue growth. Dedicated teams run category-specific businesses, such as furniture, bedding, seasonal décor, lighting, tabletop, and are responsible for managing the overall health of the category, primarily by building and growing strong supplier relationships. In addition to category teams, we have curation-focused teams that drive category strategy through promotions, exclusive brand development, catalog design and site merchandising.
Competitive Intelligence is focused on how to optimize Wayfair’s strategic positioning in its rapidly evolving competitive landscape. This cross-functional and entrepreneurial team is building cutting edge ‘Big Data’ and Advanced Analytics capabilities that impact every major business function at the company; this unique, external market perspective complements our robust internal data to help the organization make smarter decisions. Past projects have included: developing first-ever dynamic visualizations that enable category managers to optimize our product selection, creating products that track competitor movements and assess relative strategic importance over time, and building dashboards that illuminate competitors’ marketing strategies and spending behavior.
Our Customer Growth team is responsible for growing our active customer base and topline revenue. We develop and execute the growth strategy and forecasting across our family of brands. We have a build-first culture: we work directly with our in-house creative agency to develop a vision and then test that with customers by leveraging our proprietary advertising technology platform. When ideas we test generate positive ROI, we scale them into programs and campaigns; when they don’t, we learn and improve. Doing things in-house works for us - our team was awarded 2017’s Marketer of the Year award by Internet Retailer. We are hiring for a variety of roles on our Customer Growth team - product managers for our 1:1 personalized customer messaging platform, CMOs and strategists for our brands and categories, and ambassadors for the customer experience on and off site. We’re looking for data-driven creative innovators who thrive in a dynamic environment where they’re always learning and improving. If this sounds like you, we’d love to talk to you about finding a role for you on our team.
