The Vice President, Vendor and Implementation Management acts as the SSM Health system-wide leader of contract design, sourcing and supplier management efforts. The responsibilities of that role includes developing, leading, facilitating, coordinating, and implementing system wide sourcing initiatives in support of the System Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO) and in collaboration with the Vice President, Supply Chain Operations; system wide, regional and local executive leadership; physician and clinician leadership; SSM Health employees; Affiliates and the national Group Purchasing Organization. This individual is primarily responsible for the SSM Health system sourcing, supplier management and implementation team that designs and drives the user engaged contracting efforts while advancing rapid deployment of those strategies for all non-labor related expenses, information technologies, equipment, purchased services, professional services and performance metrics that are supportive of the key elements of the non-labor spend strategy (contract compliance, contract coverage, PPI, utilization, logistics, inventory management and operational efficiencies). With the System Vice President and CSCO, the Vice President, Vendor and Implementation Management leads the strategic sourcing team through the development, promotion, and implementation of strategies that engage aligned physicians, clinicians, administrators, and senior executives in contract strategy, contract design, negotiations, contract execution, and performance monitoring. This individual ensures collaboration with other departments to provide for aligned goals that result in rapid adoption and sustainable compliance across the portfolio of services.
Additionally, the Vice President, Vendor and Implementation Management has direct responsibility for the implementation team throughout the system while providing guidance and support for strategically important affiliates.

Must be able to demonstrate the ability to attract top talent and define best roles for existing talent. Must be capable of developing the organization’s skills and competencies by assessing and retraining or replacing associates as necessary. Candidate must demonstrate success in reducing cost while maintaining/enhancing service and quality standards, with specific demonstrated skill at influencing utilization patterns in a complex multi-stakeholder organization.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
MS, MBA, or advanced degree required.
Experience in healthcare strongly preferred.
The successful candidate will have a fifteen year demonstrated track record of successfully leading end to end sourcing and vendor management activities, like those listed above, in a large scale, multi-site environment. An individual with ten years of negotiations and contracting responsibilities is preferred. A minimum of ten years of collective experience in the pharmaceutical, medical device, and/or group purchasing sector is required. Candidate must demonstrate success in advancing cost reduction strategies while maintaining high service and quality levels. A strong understanding of the P&L required.
