A Raw Material Strategic Procurement Manager at LANXESS creates competitive advantage and limits exposure for LANXESS through the strategic sourcing of goods or services required by LANXESS
Furthermore, this position provides support to regional strategic procurement activities for technical materials, general services, technical services, environmental services as well as procurement support for business units in conjunction with category manager for each area, all in accordance with established Company and procurement-specific policies and directives
Analyze market structure, trends, technical developments and regulatory trends that impact competitiveness and/or affect availability and delivered cost of raw materials
Develop and recommend short and long term procurement strategies aimed at meeting BU/GF material or service requirements in a manner that provides security of supply of timely and cost competitive materials or services of the appropriate quality.
Coordinate strategies within GPL regionally or globally to enhance corporate buying power and lead the effective implementation of such strategies.
Communicate procurement strategies to stakeholders and present a “one voice” message to potential suppliers to conduct fair and effective bid processes
Establish contracts from initial negotiation (including pricing, terms & conditions, scope of work, etc.) through final agreement, with the approval of the appropriate LANXESS PRO and BU/GF management.
Negotiate resolution of disputes, changes in scope and material price changes.
Communicate plans and roll-out new supplier programs to fully implement procurement strategies
Manage ongoing supplier relationships
Comply with all established departmental objectives with regard to supplier evaluations, sustainability initiatives, supplier visit reports, cost reduction reporting, etc. using the appropriate PROInfo tools.
A minimum of 4 years relevant strategic procurement and/or commercial contracting experience or an MBA/MS with 2 years of relevant experience is required. Professional Certification is a plus.
Knowledge of basic chemical manufacturing processes and of the major factors that influence the markets and prices for the major materials are within the position’s responsibility.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) are required.
Solid market knowledge and ability to quickly become recognized internally and externally as knowledgeable in the supply markets for inorganic, organic and aromatic chemicals.
Proven ability to develop and deliver persuasive argumentation in pricing and contract negotiations is essential to the achievement of LANXESS’ objectives.
The ability to influence and persuade individuals at all levels of the LANXESS organization to gain support for key procurement initiatives.
Thorough understanding of the legal requirements and sensitivity of commercial contract law.
Proven organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with minimal supervision.
The ability to organize diverse information, analyze and resolve disputes, understand internal customer requirements, make independent decisions, and display strong interpersonal and communication skills with individuals at all levels of LXS and supplier organizations.
The ability to work professionally and effectively with Senior Managers in direct support of their objectives.
Strong analytical skills and high skill level using Power Point, Excel, as well as the ability to quickly master internal LANXESS tools such as: SAP BW reports, Xergy, and PROInfo tools
