T.H. Easter Consulting has been retained to find the company’s next Director of Procurement.
This role directs and oversees the purchasing function with focus on Capital projects. Develops policies and procedures related to the procurement of goods and services. Requires a bachelor's degree with at least 10 years of experience in the field. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Reports to the Chief Information Officer. Located in Dover, DE or Wilmington, DE.
Negotiate and execute purchase orders or vendor contracts, with focus on Capital projects and realize value for the business unit.
Strategically develop and manage key suppliers to leverage scale and realize efficiencies
Develop and implement a Procurement process framework that will include appropriate controls, role definition, measures and tools.
Develop and lead a core procurement organization with linkages to Business Unit buyers to drive standardization of processes and leverage scale.
Provide leadership to the Corporate Procurement program to setup a procurement organization and sound practices.
Work with Internal Audit, Finance and other corporate functions to ensure a strong control environment.
Work closely with line of business managers to ensure their operational and project goals are met by working as an internal partner and purchasing expert.
Lead Corporate Procurement Project aimed at defining Corporate wide policies and process framework.
Identify and realize savings in specific Corporate indirect procurement areas.
Act as the subject matter expert on procurement corporate wide and provide guidance.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Bachelor of Arts Degree required
Ten years of Purchasing experience with responsibility for multiple divisions and a multi-million dollar spending pool.
Ability to influence and work with senior executive and business unit leaders to develop trust and leverage scale across the organization.
Ability to implement and manage change introduced via consistent purchasing processes.
Ability to utilize external network and industry resources to positively impact internal purchasing practices, leverage sources, realize savings and total value.
Experience with traditional procurement tools within business systems such as SAP/Oracle as well as exposure to modern tools based on SaaS such as Ariba.
Experience in managing Direct, Indirect and Capital spend.
Strong experience with contracting process, large RFPs, MSAs and supplier terms and conditions.
