Position Summary The Category Manager leads high-complexity sourcing projects and associated supplier relationships, working effectively with Customer Relationship Managers and more junior members of the Procurement team which may cut across several customer groups. The Category Manager may also operate as a principal point of contact for certain category based projects.
• Manages and processes Purchase Requisitions, including: order creation (PO), Supplier contact, order tracking, monitor goods/services reception and payment • Liaises with Supply Chain team to ensure continuity of the acquisition of goods and services • Develop and implement category plans for medium to high complexity categories • Applies Sourcing and Supplier Management methodologies, leading cross-functional teams executing multiple sourcing projects in a portfolio of goods, materials & services • Implement category strategy through sourcing initiatives and supplier management to generate value and achieve procurement targets • Manages complex and multiple sourcing projects to deliver agreed business targets • Delivers targets and sustainable value for KAUST through managing sourcing and supplier • Builds strong business relationships with suppliers and identifies opportunities for extending these • Develop and implement Supplier management plans for high complexity categories • Build and maintain sustainable relationships with stakeholders • Communicates frequently and effectively with stakeholders to update progress of initiative, monitor new requirements and gather feedback • Develops category strategy and a pipeline roll-out programs, engaging effectively with stakeholders and the market • Negotiates technical and commercial terms with suppliers to ensure stakeholders' needs are met and the best value for the requirement • Identifies and manages high impact risks to the category, escalating any risks that fall outside of category but could affect KAUST • Accountable for quality and timeliness of critical deliverables and communications • Requests and allocates resources to initiatives in order to deploy category strategy and supplier management activities • Leads cross-functional teams to manage the implementation of the category strategy • Forecasts, tracks key account metrics, and implements actions to ensure targets are met

Able to communicate complex ideas and strategies effectively with senior stakeholders and executives • Able to determine the actions, risks and end results required in order to get the job done. • Takes ownership of achievement of tasks beyond own contribution • Strong problem solving skills and techniques - ability to analyze spend data, market trends and strategy setting • Broad knowledge of Procurement processes and deep Knowledge of a particular category in a range of contexts • Focused on understanding how the category and suppliers can contribute to an organization's value and on achieving results which are in line with this • Ability to use e-procurement applications and Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint • Ability to coach members of the Procurement team • Ability to lead a project team within their specialism • Ability to lead projects across specialisms or functional teams • Ability to shape and lead thinking in a given category or customer area • Ability to think about and create solutions which offer value through the category • Ability to schedule and monitor activities to achieve organizational goals • Ability to anticipate and predict internal and external changes, trends and influences in order to effectively allocate resources and implement appropriate initiatives • Ability to set up negotiation strategy and effectively engage with suppliers, making sure the best value is achieved
Qualifications • Bachelor's in a relevant subject. Master's degree preferred. • Procurement Qualification is essential (e.g. MCIPS or relevant Masters) • A minimum of 8 years' experience in Procurement organizations with at least 4 years applicable experience in managing a Procurement category or a customer account • Fluent English (written/oral)
