Oversee all phases of warehouse operations and strategic direction for all inbound and outbound operations. Provide work direction to corporate support managers & analyst concerning transportation operations. Maintain oversight in quality assurance and insure division compliance. Interact with Director of Distribution Operations in the areas of strategic planning and cost management in areas related to warehouse operations.
Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Review financial statements, labor productivity, building operations, loss prevention, customer service metrics to insure cost effective operations at all divisions.
Analyze and identify opportunities for process improvement resulting in cost or time saved. Monitor and evaluate distribution center operating results to provide information to other key decision-makers to insure follow through on sub-standard operations.
Interact, coordinate, and plan with internal corporate, regional and D.C resources in logistics, distribution, accounting and I.T. to ensure continued growth and profits of department.
Manage 3rd party vendors, review equipment usage and leases, and monitor costs associated with operations. Accountable for profit and loss results on all warehouse expenses.
Establish a strategic direction for warehouse operations, communicating the plan, and ensuring that it is carried out through each of our distribution center locations with the assistance of the corporate and independent retail departments.
Enhance the quality assurance program within warehouse operations and manage relationships with internal business partners to drive improvement.
Interact with corporate and independent retail stores relating to freight charges and schedules.
Ensure divisions compliance with all areas related to warehouse operations including state and federal regulatory agency compliance.
Ensure that our non-union status is maintained through appropriate management practices -- communication, disciplinary actions, and manager/employee relations.
Relevant Experience, Education, Certification, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate experience
10 years in warehouse operations or experience in high volume distribution centers.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
General PC skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Good negotiation skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Relevant experience with Save-A-Lot systems, and the ability to deal with a widely varied customer base.
Some travel may be required, depending on assigned area
Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment
Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal
Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday
Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
