As the San Diego Site Purchasing Lead you will be responsible for implementing the company purchasing strategy for assigned sites incorporating contracts, purchasing tools, and supplier management techniques at a regional or local level. This role will ensure that all supplies of goods and services are provided in the most cost-effective manner.
In coordination with CPK functional owners develop and maintain strategies for major strategic materials & services.
Select appropriate purchasing tools and validate with users, and buy directly where applicable.
Obtain favorable pricing, supply and quality for multiple materials & services, in highly competitive markets through effective negotiating and competitive bidding.
Complete contractual requirements for materials & services in collaboration with legal and business strategies and partners.
Identify new sources of materials & services used in manufacturing required by CPK, utilizing established protocols where applicable while applying consistent methods and practices within approved policies.
Ensures all purchases are covered by necessary binding contracts and ensures that proper legal and financial review has been conducted prior to execution of contracts.
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, ensuring consistent supply of materials & services to our plants
Ensures complete, accurate and timely reporting to management of vendor performance statistics and marketplace changes effecting pricing or performance of materials.
Provides guidance and direction to purchasing staff for assigned sites or region including performance management, job and career development with input into staffing and salary planning decisions. Coaches and develops employees and assures effective alignment with the matrix functions.
Ensure compliance with Purchasing Ethics, Sarbanes-Oxley 404, ISO and Corporate Standards, audit rules, laws, etc.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor degree with 8- 10 years in contracting and purchasing, and manufacturing experience is required.
Strong knowledge of Requisition to Pay cycle
Excellent negotiation skills, problems solving and project management skills required
Solid understanding of purchasing function, contract language, terms and conditions, and contract design.
Good understanding of computer based purchasing and inventory systems, including interfaces with other functional applications such as A/P, project and job costing, planning and forecasting.
Possesses process optimization certifications (i.e. CPM, Six Sigma, SPC)preferred
Well informed about process improvement methodologies ( e.g. Six Sigma, Kaizan Continuous Improvement)
Experience working with SAP & ARIBA highly preferred
2 years supervisory or management experience is a plus.
