Responsible for managing in-bound supply chain functions which include material procurement, inventory control, outsourcing/in-sourcing and vendor selection. Develop, propose, implement and review programs to establish strategic partnerships in support of the Division's sourcing activities. Manage supplier relationships and negotiate contracts and pricing for direct and indirect materials. Develop and present quality control systems to global suppliers to ensure products meet strict specifications. Ensure that materials department personnel are focused on continuous improvement of products and processes.
Areas of Focus
Oversee materials team tasked with the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies to ensure timely flow of materials to support production and meet OTD goals for our customers.
Set departmental objectives and targets and measure key performance indicators
Slow moving and obsolete inventory management
Provide for the development and maintenance of inventory control systems to track status of purchase orders, inventory levels, and production requirements
Work collaboratively with product development team to support vendor selection, materials and related requirements.
Work closely with engineering and product management to facilitate technical aspects of sourcing and materials
Integrate and build on supplier management processes and procedures for the Division.
Ensure consistent application of the Supplier Evaluation Process with 80’s vendors
Implement VMI and vendor consolidation
Establish and achieve annual cost savings goals for the business
Identify and execute on insourcing/outsourcing opportunities
Liaise with platform level sourcing managers to support enterprise savings initiatives.
Develop long range and annual plans for the supply chain needs of the business
Prepare budgets and capital expenditure budgets; approve requisitions within approval limits.
Experience and Skills
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Supply Chain, Materials Management or related field with 5-7 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, materials and logistics. Strong technical background and an MBA Degree is a plus.
